Ways you can help
The Katirvik Cultural Center depends on the kindness and generosity of its donors. Our Center is operated by Kawerak, Inc., which is a 501(c)(3) public charity. We work in grateful partnership with the elementary, middle and high schools of the Bering Strait Region to provide cultural and educational programming to youth and communities.
We know that when we find a plant or harvest an animal to feed our families and communities, that it was not by skill alone. We know that the plants and animals give themselves to us so that we can survive. We thrive because of generosity. You can help us to thrive. Your kind donations are meaningful and 100% of your donation goes toward operation and community programming.
Your donation will be represented on our Donor Wall at the Katirvik Cultural Center, and commemorated through the posting of a plaque bearing your name on the animal that represents your level of donation. Your donation will be recognized on the Katirvik website and in Kawerak’s semiannual newsletter. Donors are recognized at public gatherings, and you and your corporation will receive invitations to attend. Your donation is tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. For your tax reporting purposes, Kawerak, Inc. has an EIN number of: 92-0047009.

Education Tax Credit
Corporations can donate through the Alaska Educational Tax Credit Program. There are considerable tax benefits to your corporation if your corporation is considering donating to the Katirvik. The Alaska Education Tax Credit chart illustrates the levels of giving and the direct benefit to your corporation. https://dor.alaska.gov/EducationTaxCredit.aspx
Under the Alaska Education Tax Credit, your donation can decrease the amount of taxes it owes to the State of Alaska. For example, if your corporation owes $300,000 in taxes to the State of Alaska, and it chooses to donate $300,000, your corporation can claim a $250,000 credit toward the taxes owed! The maximum tax credit that your corporation can claim in one tax year is now $5 million.
